I am native born to Florida, USA. I have a 4 year Bachelors of the Arts Degree, major in English and minor in Art with an emphasis on Literature and Writing, from the University of Mississippi, Ole Miss. I am currently studying for a Master¡¯s Degree in TESOL from the School for International Training in Vermont.
I have taught students from age 3 to adult. I have helped some of my Korean adult friends study for and achieve good scores on the IELTS exam. I am a participating member of Korea TESOL. I have recently been re-appointed as Chairperson to the KOTESOL National Publicity Committee
In the United States I have privately tutored teenage and adult speakers of Spanish in Conversational and Business English. I have done this on-and-off since 1998. I have been teaching here in Korea for nearly two years. I am able to provide good references to any interested parties.
During the year 2001 I volunteered with the Lighthouse Ministries Adult Illiteracy Program at the Lighthouse Mission, in Lakeland, Florida, teaching homeless persons how to read and write. I have worked voluntarily with various homeless programs for over 5 years I speak English clearly and without accent.
I know the technical aspects of writing English properly; word choice, word placement/order, spelling and punctuation. While at Ole Miss I studied linguistics in the ¡°Speech Therapy¡± section of the course ENG 506: History of the English Language. I am well-versed in western social etiquette and business protocol.
Also, I have been a small business owner (please see resume) therefore, I have a strong understanding of the significance of the client or customer to the success of any business. I place a high value on the importance of clear communication. I work well with everyone.
I am completing a Masters Degree in TESOL, expected degree grant is September 2008. I should have no delay in obtaining an E-2 visa from Korean Immigration.
