Though I have no professional teaching experience, I do have the following exposure:
• For several years during high school (1986 - 1989), one morning each week I assisted my father in his elementary school classrooms (kindergarten through second grade).
• During my early college years (1990 - 1992), I tutored students in calculus, physics, and astronomy.
• During my first year learning the Korean language (2017), I tutored a Korean student in English.
• At Dinerware, I developed troubleshooting tools for technical support representatives, and designed a two-part training course the basics of the Dinerware database, as well as building them tools for troubleshooting and training them in their use.
• As a certified yoga instructor, I have prepared curriculum and taught classes part-time for over a year.

About twenty years ago, I was first exposed to Korean culture. I developed an interest in the language, and after several years of self-study, I was able to take a Korean language course at the University of Washington in Seattle. For the next few years I travelled to Korea whenever possible, absorbing the culture and practicing the language. During these trips, I developed an interest in teaching English in Korea.
Though I have never taught professionally, I have a wide variety of teaching experiences. My father was an elementary school teacher, and during high school I assisted him in his classrooms one morning each week. While in college, I tutored students in calculus, physics, and astronomy. Throughout my professional software career, I led numerous training sessions. During my Korean courses at UW, I tutored a native Korean speaker in English. Two years ago, I became a certified yoga instructor.
So, I have experience teaching children, young adults, and mature adults. I have tutored native speakers of Korean in the English language. Teaching yoga taught me how to prepare a curriculum. I am familiar with Korean culture and customs, and have an intermediate level fluency in Korean. I believe this makes me an excellent choice to teach in Korea, and I hope you regard my application with favor!
