I am enthusiastically pursuing employment as an ESL teacher, and am open to working with students of any age or proficiency level. I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textiles and Fashion at NSCAD University in Halifax, Canada. My educational journey has provided me with useful lessons both inside and outside of the classroom. I have a deep appreciation for the value of discipline and dedication, knowing that hard work is the greatest tool to achieving success. I recently concluded a 100 hour TESOL program with Oxford Seminars. The TESOL teacher training intensified my passion to teach abroad, as I was given the opportunity to think more critically about the challenges and rewards of teaching English.

I believe an effective educator is flexible, focused, committed, engaging and passionate. I plan to incorporate all of these attributes into my teaching. My work in the field of Fine Arts has strengthened my creativity, and I am excited to incorporate this skill into the classroom by motivating learning in a multitude of ways. My goal is to provide an organized, supportive and communicative environment in which to challenge my students to develop their English language abilities. I intend to use extensive research to develop lesson plans that are comprehensive and accessible. I work very well with others, both as a leader and as a colleague, and look forward to forming positive working relationships.

Working closely with children has taught me the need for patience and compassion in accommodating their unique needs. It has also helped me understand the importance of vigilance and consistency. Having studied multiple languages myself, I can empathize with the difficulties of acquiring a new language, and I recognize useful methods of second language education. I have always valued literacy very highly, and I am a naturally articulate communicator. After working in busy restaurants and with young children I have developed excellent multi-tasking abilities, and I am able to think quickly as an effective problem-solver. My work and education have propelled me to become very perceptive and open-minded, and I am eager to apply my skills as a teacher.

I have travelled to Korea twice as a visitor and I immediately felt a great reverence for the culture and people. I have become familiar with many aspects of Korean culture and I am excited to further this knowledge. My thesis in university was based on the Bojagi textiles of Korea as well as contemporary photographs of Korean cityscapes. I am also currently studying Hangul; I am a beginner but I am eager to learn.
