To whom it may concern,
I am an enthusiastic native English teacher from the United Kingdom with two years teaching experience. I am a graduate of Queen Mary, University of London, where I obtained a BA (Hons, 2:1) in History and Film. Throughout the academic period of 2007-2008 I spent 16 months in China and South Korea teaching English as a foreign language. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and meeting new people and exploring different cultures. At the end of 2008 I completed a two month teaching contract in Sudan, a wonderful opportunity and an enriching life experience. Whilst I mainly taught children in Korea, in China and Sudan I gained experience in teaching young adults. In Sudan I helped design and co-ordinate many different courses including IELTS (TOEFL) training, business English, general English and conversational English.
During my last year at university I spent six months providing private tutoring for foreign students at Queen Mary, where I met many different nationalities. Whilst I have gained plenty of one to one teaching experience through private lessons in Korea, I feel it was the friendships made and the cultural values exchanged at University which inspired me to plan for a career in ESL in Asia.
In February 2007 I completed a CELTA training course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at Oxford House College in London. During this course I gained teaching experience through practice lessons and assessments. I feel that I have been fully prepared for teaching people of all ages through the CELTA course.
I am highly motivated and keen to impart my knowledge of English to others. My mother ran an English school in our home in Cheltenham in England when I was younger, so I also have good experience in helping students with conversational English. I have always had a strong desire for cultural exchange and have enjoyed learning about European and Asian culture, whilst in turn, telling others about mine.
I enjoy using different teaching methods for different ages. I support the idea of using different techniques to teach English in a more creative and interesting way. I believe in using as much visual and kinaesthetic learning as possible, whilst maintaining an awareness of conversational English. Overall I think the language learning process should certainly be an entertaining one.
I have attached my resume, a recent photo, a scan of my passport, my degree and my TEFL (CELTA) certificate. I am in the process of obtaining reference letters, which I can give to you as soon as possible. I am currently in Seoul, on a tourist visa. Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Paul Lombard |
