I have long desired to live and travel abroad ever since I graduated from Chapman University in May 2004. I have traveled around the world for various music opportunities and for pleasure with friends and family, but have not been able to completely immerse myself in a different culture. As I am constantly searching for ways to educate myself about other places and people in the world, I feel the only true way to grow as an individual is to push myself to experience all that is around me.
I have been searching for a new career path for the past few years and consistently find myself gravitating towards positions that are outside of the United States. I originally began study at Chapman University to become a music teacher for elementary students. I was influenced heavily by the music teachers in my life and felt that it was a highly rewarding and fulfilling environment that I would thrive in. As I continued my studies, I also found a love for understanding how people think and how to best communicate with different audiences and decided to switch my focus to styles and methods of communication. I continued to play music but always felt that teaching others was an avenue of my life that was never fully expressed.
I see teaching as more than a job that requires you to deliver the instructed pieces of information to students. While that is a very broad definition of the job objective, I believe students in South Korea need to be encouraged, be taught of their self worth and have positive role models that they might be without outside of school. I will bring my broad background and ability to effectively communicate with a myriad of age groups and types of audiences to help students reach their fullest potential in learning English.
I will hold all of my students to the highest standards when it comes to respectfulness and the grades they receive. While it will vary from student to student, I will work with each student to bring out their full potential in order for them to take the most out of my class as possible. I want each student to fully comprehend, understand and appreciate the knowledge given through my instruction. |
