ESL Agent

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in regard to the position listed on your website titled, ¡°Short hour position in central Seoul.¡± The location in the ad is Gangnam Seoul, near Hakdong Subway station #7, the starting date is February 25, 2009. I have always been immensely interested in traveling, different cultures, and learning about the way other people live. Living a short time of my life in Mexico, traveling to South America as a child, and recently having traveled around Europe increased my curiosity and desire to live abroad. I am currently visiting family friends in South Korea from Aurora, Colorado, near Denver. Being here thus far has intrigued me, and teaching children to speak English is an opportunity that I would be honored to partake in. I am certain that this position would befit me because of the education I have obtained, the work experiences I¡¯ve had, as well as my interest in learning more about the great country of South Korea.

I graduated from Colorado State University in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work. As an undergraduate I completed a 500 plus hour Internship at the State of Colorado 8th Judicial Probation Department. In this placement I worked in several different areas of Probation. I took on the role of a Victims Assistance Coordinator (VAC), a Deputy Probation Officer supervising sex offenders, and working with the Restorative Justice Program. During this placement I was able to practice many different aspect of case management including office visits, home visits, surveillance, connecting clients with resources, interviewing, advocating, case planning, and much more. After graduating from Colorado State I worked as an office assistant in the litigation practice Reilly Pozner in Denver. As an office assistant I worked with lawyers in order to effectively produce case files for clients, acted as a carrier to deliver important documents to the courts and other offices, and worked on projects to thoroughly document cases going offsite. Prior to my internship I volunteered at the Boys and Girls club of Larimer County in Fort, Collins, during the summer of 2007. In my role as a volunteer, I gained experience working one on one with children from the ages of six to thirteen. I spent much time not only doing recreational activities with the children, but also helping them with their homework and reading. Other relevant experience includes working at the Sunflower Daycare Center in the summer of 2005. Here, I worked with infants doing developmental activities, and acted as a personal assistant for the owner Devorah Uriel.

Having gained many different work experiences thus far in my life, I am positive that I am competent enough to work with children teaching English, but most of all; I am willing to learn in order to become the best teacher I can be.

I am very interested in this position and am available for an interview at your convenience. Please feel free to contact me through e-mail, phone, or letter. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Dora Marin
